Physical infrastructure

The access to physical infrastructure provides a
stable and positive support
for entrepreneurship
, both in absolute terms as well as from a comparative
perspective.

Entrepreneurial activity is supported both by the speed of access to and
affordability of communications, utilities and related services.
x
The only comparatively less favorable area is the support of new and growing
firms by physical infrastructure that may be caused by insufficient quality of
infrastructure, mainly transportation, in certain regions of Slovakia.
Cultural and social norms

According to experts, cultural and social norms provide insufficient
support
for the creation of a favorable entrepreneurial environment
. In
addition to a negative absolute rating, Slovakia also lags in international
comparison.

In particular, the support of individual success, emphasis on self-sufficiency,
autonomy and personal initiative, encouragement of entrepreneurial risk-
taking, creativity, innovativeness and individual responsibility in managing
one's own life can all be considered inadequate from the entrepreneurship
support perspective.
x
Since cultural and social norms in Slovakia negatively influence individual
preferences as well as societal attitudes towards entrepreneurship, they present
more of a hurdle than support for entrepreneurial activity.
