R&D transfer belongs to the
worst-rated entrepreneurial framework
conditions
in Slovakia and lags significantly also in comparison with other
countries.

Problematic areas include support of transfer of knowledge and
commercialization of ideas developed by research institutions, as well as
support of latest technology availability for new and growing businesses, and
targeted support of specific areas leading to the creation of high growth world-
class ventures.

The consistently unfavorable rating in both years confirms the conclusion that
the current state is negative and there is a need for radical improvements in
order to make R&D transfer sufficiently support entrepreneurship in Slovakia.
Commercial services and infrastructure

Commercial services and infrastructure belong to areas of entrepreneurial
environment that provides
good support for entrepreneurial
activity
,
even when compared with other countries.

The number of subcontractors, suppliers and consultants in Slovakia is
sufficient, and their affordability has improved compared to last year.

On the other hand, ease of access to good subcontractors, suppliers and
consultants, as well as to good legal, accounting and banking services, has been
rated lower. Should this trend continue, it could negatively affect the currently
favorable situation.
Market openness and dynamism

From the point of view of support for entrepreneurial activity, the current state
of market restrictions (or market openness) can be considered
favorable,
with a positive trend
compared to the previous year.

Current situation is favorable in the areas of ease and affordability of market
entry for new firms, as well as in preventing unfair blocking of market entry by
established firms and anti-trust legislation enforcement.

On the other hand,
the dynamics of changes
on consumer and business-to-
business markets does not provide a sufficient impulse to support
entrepreneurial activity. Moreover, the level of dynamics has slightly decreased
compared to last year.
